Laptops for Everyone

You sure can't eat a laptop but you can start a billion dollar software company.

Good folk from many tech firms have built a cheap laptop with the hopes of narrowing the digital divide.

Other good folk have put up funding to distribute these machines.

One especially cool part of this story is that this machine was built from scratch. This is because most recipients have yet to interact with a computer and as a result they have no expectations.

Thanks for the initiative and thanks for the follow through.

Lets hope that one way or another this will feed some people.

iPhone

I recently read that Apple's stock had hit an all time high. Pretty incredible considering that this was a result of the iPod and iTunes rather then something like computers.

But if Microsoft can make a video game console, then why the hell not.

What I'm getting at in a roundabout way is the introduction of the iPhone, who would have thought that Apple would compete against Nokia one day.

In any event if the mythical iPhone becomes a reality it should be cool as fuck.

Some rumours regarding the product are as follow:

-two batteries which is absolutely necessary
-touch screen which is pretty cool
-4 gig and 8 gig
-ironically unrestricted (phone not music player)

Psiphon

Censorship on the internet has proven ones again to be an oxymoron, despite the best efforts of China, North Korea and the likes.

A Toronto based group has released some software that users in nations with restricted web access to access restricted sites, via a computer in a nation that does not restrict web access.

Seems pretty cool, but it has obvious illicit applications. I guess time will tell whether or not it gets fucked up.
